In Sweden, regulations applicable to fire insulation are stipulated in BBR, issued by the National Board of Housing, building and planning. There it is stated that any installation that penetrates a fire-rated construction of a building must not compromise its resistance to fire.
Therefore, buildings are divided into fire cells, each designed to resist fire during a specified time period, for example EI30, EI60, EI90 and EI120.
”E” refers to integrity (density) and ”I” means insulation, regardless type of insulation. Figures refer to minutes. Any plumbing, electrical or ventilation installations that penetrates the fire cell shall be sealed in the right way, not to constitute a weak point.

This course is designed in accordance with the regulations for Hot work, issued by the Swedish Fire Protection Association (Brandskyddsföreningen).
The term Hot work refers to work carried out using methods that can potentially cause a fire. “Methods” refers to tools known to generate heat or sparks. To conduct any such work you must have the right knowledge and be aware of the considerable fire hazards associated with hot work.
Anybody involved in hot work shares the responsibility to prevent fire. Any chores that can be perceived as hazardous require proper knowledge and training.
The course is designed for policyholders, property managers as well as contractors and skilled workers that conduct Hot work.
The course comprises a theoretical session as well as a practical demonstration and a hands-on extinguishing exercise.
After successful completion of the course and approval of the Swedish Fire Protection Association, participants receive a certificate confirming their competence to take responsibility for, supervise and conduct Hot work.
